History

All the states, later founding members of Italy, and the Church had a very high demand for funds, especially Tuscany and its capital city Florence. As well as the historical background and the age of the certificate the design is very interesting. The Medici family gained wealth from the banking business and attained sovereignty over Florence in 1434. At first they were titled Dukes of Florence (1531), finally Grand Dukes of Tuscany (1569). They became the wealthiest and politically most important Florentine family. So the name Medici is known as a synonym for tremendous wealth.
