History

It was the first railway authorised in Ireland and intended to link Limerick (on the Irish west coast), to Carrick-on-Suir with a branch to Waterford (on the Irish south-east coast). However, the railway was never built. This is the oldest Irish railroad certificate, beating the Dublin and Drocheda Railway with 14 years.
